All of us who are lovers of Imam Husayn, The Martyr's Great Chief (A), wish that we could do something in this time to champion his cause. But what can we do? We, the founding members of GrassRoots Calling, have a plan.

lmagine This: Our various masjids organize to procure and distribute hundreds of copies of a taped poetic, masterpiece in English about the Martyrdom of Imam Husayn (A).

lmagine ... Hundreds of people who don't know the story and the message of Imam Husayn, listening to hundreds of tapes on the subject, procured as a gift of appreciation for a tax exempt donation that will be used to launch a grass roots dawah movement in this non-Muslim Nation, two birds with one stone.

Imagine how much more effective these tapes are than pamphlets and text books. You know the reason why? The universal lessons of Imam Husayn (A) aren't just learned academically. They are felt. These heart felt lessons are best communicated from preacher to congregations, from generation to generation, by great speakers whose tradition of sincerity and artistry transcends time, place, language and culture.

Poetry is the artistic medium that has traditionally best communicated the knowledge and feeling of Imam Musayn's lost stand. Stylistically recited poetry has carried souls back to that hot, bloody, desert place called Karballa in the languages of Arabic, Fars!, Urdu, and Swahili.
