"We will not bow to his power and might.

"I do not think my pledge without witnesses will suffice.

"So to avoid confusion and strife,

"Wouldn't you rather I sign this in broad day light

"And in everyoneps clear sight?

"Don't you think that would be better, closer to right?

" The Imam's suggestion appealed to Waleed,

Who was quite loyal to Khalif Yazeed.
